Parabolic ( Dish ) antenna
The most well-known reflector antenna is the parabolic reflector antenna, commonly known as a satellite dish antenna. It is uses a parabolic reflector, a curved surface with the cross-sectional shape of a parabola, to direct the radio waves. The main advantage is that it has high directivity. It functions similarly to a searchlight or flashlight reflector to direct the radio waves in a narrow beam, or receive radio waves from one particular direction only. Features of dish antenna: 1) High Gain 2) Wide bandwidth 3) Easy to install Main types of parabolic antenna feeds: 1) Axial feed 2) Off-axis feed 3) Cassegrain 4) Gregorian |
